About Sundowners Tennis League

Last Update:

This league was formed for working women in Orange County to provide them good tennis, fun, and a chance to meet other ladies of like abilities and interests.

Our league season is from September through May. There are three Divisions: Evening Stars which has players rated from 4.0 to 5.0; Moonlighters North and Moonlighters South which have players rated from 3.0 to 4.0. Each match consists of a singles and doubles play for each of the three rating levels of two regular or no-ad sets. Play is against teams from all of Orange County, which could take you from as far north as La Habra to as far south as Laguna Niguel.

A little History...

Paddy Speyers had a dream of forming a ladies inter-club competitive doubles tennis league. In 1971 that dream became a reality. And so was formed the Hill and Harbor League, now 33 years later called Pacific Sun. She also started a night time working women's league which we all know as Sundowner's Tennis League. Currently we have approximately 28 teams participating in our league and over 1,000 rostered players in three divisions. Her vision and the framework first established by Paddy Speyers, followed by the commitment of volunteers that include captains and board members, has lead greatly to the success of our league.
